This home emerged through repeated collaboration between the clients and our team over the course of many years.

The goal was not to create a historically styled house or a purely contemporary one, but to find a balance between traditional warmth and modern detailing, creating a house that feels grounded, layered, and deeply specific to the clients’ lives. 20 years after the first collaboration on this home started, the project continues to feel quite timeless, with elements from each phase finding each other in a seamless balance.

We refined the home room by room, introducing a quieter and more cohesive architectural language throughout from the house’s spec home beginnings. The project involved an unusually high level of custom design and coordination. Custom lighting, metalwork, millwork, furnishings, and architectural elements were developed specifically for the house, with extensive collaboration between our team and fabricators throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Throughout the house, contemporary interventions sit alongside traditional references without allowing either to dominate. Roof edges, railings, window trim, and metal detailing were continually refined to quiet the original composition and create a more cohesive whole. The result is a house that reveals itself slowly over time, where the level of consideration becomes more apparent with each visit.
